About
Susan Ashley holds a PhD in communication and culture from York University. She is interested in the 'public' nature of heritage knowledge production and representation. She spent more than 20 years working for newspapers and for heritage institutions across Canada. Dr. Ashley is a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow with the Frost Centre for Canadian Studies and Indigenous Studies. Her postdoctoral research studies grassroots museums and exhibitionary media as particular modes of cultural production by which 'new' Canadians make public their ideas of identity and citizenship.
